Indian Astrology goes by many names such as joytish or jyotisha in the native language. In modern day it is also referred to as vedic astrology. Unlike any other kind of astrology followed all over the globe it also believes that every thing is a part of a greater setting and all that happens is a reason. It supports the concept of god but it also says that gods setting can be altered to suit ones preferred situations. The question that most of the followers fail to answer is that if god has already made a plan then why do human need to alter to it as god is always classified as the superior being.

Its origin lies in Sanskrit, which is considered origin for many modern sciences. All these names project a common meaning which means light. It is divided into three different categories each category has its unique characteristics and usage. Indian astrology covers all major aspects of life such as material life and unique events as war earth quakes political off sets and financial predictions. All these predictions are made by the use of different animal, omen and portents.


As far as the history of the Indian astrology is concerned the practices are adopted from scriptures such as bandhu of Vedas. The rituals preformed also cover zodiac signs from the western world and the local culture. It has also got a lot to do with the movement of the different planets, location of different stars and the position of moon with the proportion of the light.

It has great influence on the lives of Hindus who practice this art. The new born are named according to these practices. The local religious holidays or celebrations are also intact with the astrology, such as weddings. But now a days a common trend is rising which strongly challenges the ancient believes of Indian Astrology.
